Rachna Raj Kaur is a communications practitioner trying to make a dent in pop culture. She was raised in Dubai and Auckland with close links to India. Rachna now calls Toronto home. When Rachna came out to her mother, the response was laughter. Her uncle's response was a promise to find a Punjabi bride. Inspired by the teachings of her Sikh grandparents, Rachna has worked with youth, immigrant and queer communities to create positive spaces, break down isolation and break through silence. Between working to earn her place in the public relations industry and keeping up with new music, Rachna spends her time connecting with her extended family, seeking out pretty things and eating within the confines of a wheat, soy and dairy free world. Excited to be writing again, Rachna intends to use her infatuation with blonde female celebrities as a platform to deconstruct pop culture and talk about colonialism, capitalism, race, gender and sexuality.
