event: Protest at the Castro's LBGT Center (with Twitter/video coverage!)

Just in time for SF Pride, Gay Shame SF is holding a protest at the LBGT Center in the Castro district today. The Center--a former shadow of itself--now operates on an agenda primarily controlled by corporate interests and the exclusion of queer identities. Ironically, the LBGT Center is considered by many to be a progressive space of action. This is hardly the case.

As seen on the protest info page, the demands are quite simple: the Center needs to revise its methods in outreach and retention of all queer peoples, expand the resources provided to its target population, install new leadership within the infrastructure, and redefine the Center as a truly secure and safe place for all queer identifying individuals.

In order to fully cover this event, fellow Wiqaablogger Haruki and I will be videotaping and posting text updates live on Twitter. The video will be posted on Wiqaable immediately following the protest.

If you would like to follow the protest via Twitter, you can follow my Twitter account. Also, if you would like to attend the protest and help Wiqaable cover this event, our group will be meeting at the Center at 6 PM. If you need a contact number, you can message me privately on Twitter or Facebook for more info.

See all of you at the protest!
