During this past Pride weekend, the famous Pride Parade was halted for an extended amount of time (approximately one to two hours). According to the Fog City Journal, the hold up was caused by several LBGT activists protesting Gavin Newsom's recent cuts to HIV/AIDS services. Chanting the phrase "Newsom's cuts are killing us!", the protesters demonstrated a die-in before Newsom's parade car. As shown through the attached video, a die-in is a peaceful method of protest where individuals feign death.

Oddly enough, a large chunk of Gavin Newsom's career is built upon championing the LBGT community. During the rush of Prop. 8, Newsom took a public stand against anti-same sex marriage rhetoric and campaigns. However, Newsom's recent cuts to HIV/AIDS projects seems to be a backwards move for his queer friendly platform.
